Phase/Stage 3

The Phase III ESA concentrates on areas identified in the Phase II program and involves a similar systematic process of sampling and analysis, evaluation, conclusions, and recommendations. A Phase III is necessary if significant contamination exists that will require remediation. This assessment will address issues to gather enough information to formulate a remedial action plan. The objectives of Phase III ESA are:

  1. To target and delineate the boundaries of identified contamination and their pathways;

  2. To define site conditions in greater detail, particularly with respect to possible human risks; and

  3. To provide all other information required to develop a remedial action plan and input to specifications and tender documents.

Phase III ESA involves the various type of remediation technology which may include excavation and disposal, soil vapour extraction, risk management and exposure control of the site or a combination of the above.
